This page provides you with special keys to Colorado flora and with two types of plant checklists: 1) Checklists of plants that are found in all of Colorado or in small areas of Colorado and 2) Checklists of plants that were found on Colorado Native Plant Society field trips.

Plant Keys

1)  Click for Rich Scully's "Key to Potentillas of Colorado".

2)  Click for Rich Scully's "Key to Lamiaceae (Mints) of Colorado".

(Email Rich questions or comments.)

3)  Vegetative Key to Willows.

Plant Checklists

A) Regional Checklists

Southern Rocky Mountain Region, Checklist of Vascular Plants

Catalog of the Four Corners Flora

B) Colorado state-wide checklists

Catalog of the Colorado Flora, Weber and Wittman

University of Colorado Plant Databases

C) Local checklists

Rabbitt Mountain (Email Ann Henson for more information.)

2) Checklists of Plants that were found on Colorado Native Plant Society Field Trips

The Colorado Native Plant Society keeps lists of plants observed on many of the field trips it sponsors; these lists are available below in easily printed PDF format.  Scroll through the list below to find the plant list you are interested in and then click on the number in either the family or genus column to obtain the plant list alphabetized by family or by genus.

We hope you will join the Colorado Native Plant Society on its field trips.  See the Field Trips Page and the individual chapter pages for field trips schedules.

Please note the following about the field trip plant lists:

Some plants on the lists were quite common in the area surveyed; some were uncommon or even rare.  The abundance of each plant is not always indicated on the lists.

Lists may have errors for a number of reasons, including mistaken identification.

Scientific plant names on the field trip plant lists may vary from those names presently accepted because some plant names have changed since the lists were compiled.  The 2001 editions of Weber and Wittmann's Colorado Flora, Western Slope and Colorado Flora, Eastern Slope are the source for scientific names accepted by this web site and the Colorado Native Plant Society.  (You can order Colorado Flora from the Society's Bookstore.)

Each page in the field trip plant lists below is about 50k, easily handled by most computers and printers, but if you do not have a printer or have any other problems with the files, email or write Loraine Yeatts (see below) and ask her to mail you a printed list. There is a small charge for the printed list.

Contact Loraine for additional information, such as, field trip handouts provided by leaders and trip descriptions published in the Society newsletter, Aquilegia.

Please email additions to the field trip plant lists
and your new plant lists to
Loraine Yeatts

or send the lists to her by regular mail:
