Spiranthes romanzoffiana (Lady’s Tresses)
Orchidaceae (Orchid Family)
Louis Richard named this genus (probably in the early 1800s) and Ludolf Chamisso named this species in 1828. "Spiranthes" is from the Greek "speira", a "coil" and "anthes" is from the Greek "anthos", "flower". The species name is for Count Romanzoff, early 19th century Russian financer of exploratory voyages.
