William Weber calls this Limnorchis sricta.
Orchidaceae (Orchid Family)
In 1895 Edwin Greene named this species Habenaria saccata; the plant was renamed a number of times after this, including Per Axel Rydberg's Limnorchis purpurascens in 1901; and finally in 1997 it was named Platanthera purpurascens by Sheviak and Jennings.
"Platanthera", Greek for “wide anthers”, refers to the flower's broad anthers. "Purpurascens" refers to the intensely colored spots found on some flowers in parts of is range but not in Colorado.
